Franklin Library Volunteer Library Support - Beaverdale Big Event

Volunteer at the Franklin Library with Kate from Fireweed Acupuncture and Jackie from Resonance Massage Therapy for this year’s Beaverdale Big Event! We’ll be cleaning up the grounds and offering some support inside the library (such as dusting/wiping down the bookshelves, cleaning picture books, and moving inventory).

All participants will receive a thank-you gift from Fireweed Acupuncture and Resonance Massage Therapy! Spots are limited, so make sure to sign up!

More details and sign up here: https://beaverdalebigevent.com/franklin/

Volunteers are encouraged to dress comfortably. Be aware that part of this opportunity will occur outdoors, so it is recommended to also dress for the weather. Bring working gloves if you have them for outdoor activities. For the dusting task, feel free to bring a mask, but masks will also be provided as needed.

If helping at the library isn’t your thing, there are more volunteer events on June 8th! Check out Beaverdale Big Event for more details.

Winter Qi Gong Workshop

Winter Qi Gong Workshop

Join Jackie Moser, LMT, and Kate Thomas, LAc, for our Winter Qi Gong Workshop! Qi Gong is a form of mindful movement that helps regulate Qi, or the vital energy of the body, and helps us remain strong and grounded. Over the course of three weeks, you'll learn the Qi Gong form the Eight Brocades, a great introductory form that you can practice daily. During each class, we'll also discuss Chinese medicine tips for the Winter season, and you'll leave each week with information to help you and your body better adapt to the season!

Click here to sign up for this workshop! The class is limited to 8 participants.

Our schedule is:

  • Tuesday, November 28 - learn and practice the first four parts of the form

  • Tuesday, December 5 - learn and practice the last four parts of the form

  • Tuesday, December 12 - practice the entire form at least twice

Because each week builds on the previous week, we strongly recommend that you attend all three nights!

The workshop series is $60. If the cost is a burden or you would like a payment plan, don't hesitate to get in touch with Kate at kate@fireweedacupuncture.com.

Accessibility: During each class, we will show you both the seated and standing versions of the posture. You are welcome to practice either method! If you prefer to sit to practice, folding chairs will be provided. If you'd like to stand to practice, bring a yoga mat or wear warm and slip-resistant socks! There is a single occupancy, all-gender restroom in the clinic.

COVID & Mask policy: Masks are not required but are welcome; if you are experiencing upper respiratory symptoms, we ask that you wear a mask. We will have a HEPA filter running during the event.

I'll also be offering some tips to help survive the summer heat using acupressure, Chinese medicine food therapy, gua sha, and more.

Everyone is welcome to sample the techniques, and you'll leave with a guide on acupressure points, food therapy, and other Chinese medicine tips specific to the summer season. Bonus: Attendees will receive $10 their next appointment before Aug 1st! (Three sessions available: June 24, June 27, and July 14!)
