Community

Being a part of and in the community is a core value of Fireweed Acupuncture! Here are a few ways we are showing up:

Financial Contributions

In April 2023, I hosted an Open House that raised over $250 for Iowa Trans Mutual Aid Fund! This organization helps trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse Iowans access gender-affirming care, and needs our help more than ever because people are being forced to travel out of state for their medical care. Click here to visit their site.

During the Beaverdale Fall Festival 2023, we raised $100 for the Iowa Abortion Access Fund. This organization helps increase access to abortion for Iowa and Quad Cities residents. Visit their site here for more information.

As Fireweed Acupuncture continues to grow, I’m committed to expanding the donations and collaborations in the community. Interested in partnering for a fundraiser or event? Get in touch.

Community Events

I offer classes and events in the community (such as yoga and acupuncture classes) - follow Fireweed Acupuncture on social media to stay up to date on upcoming events!

Fireweed Acupuncture is also available for community events! Some examples of possible activities are ear seed clinics and wellness classes with an emphasis on Chinese medicine practices (such as seasonal wellness). If you have an event that you’re interested in collaborating on, contact me!

Reducing Waste

Acupuncture is, unfortunately, not always very environmentally friendly! Certain aspects of running a clinic are necessary for safety, such as using high-grade cleaning supplies and correctly disposing of biohazard waste (like needles!).

Some methods to reduce waste in the clinic space include relying on electronic patient records and forms, using the patient portal to provide electronic versions of clinic handouts, using email/text and avoiding mail wherever possible, using recyclable paper cups for tea and other drinks in the clinic, using paper products that are made up of recycled content wherever possible, and more.
