Ear Seeds

Ear seeds are small vaccaria seeds or metal balls that are placed on acupressure spots on the ear that correspond to organs and areas of the body. Fireweed Acupuncture exclusively uses stainless steel metal balls on latex-free plastic stickers.

What are ear seeds for? Ear seeds are placed on spots that are specific to you and your body. These spots correspond to different areas of your body, like your back or particular organs, and provide pressure throughout the day. Ear seeds can help with many conditions, such as stress, sleep, headaches, back pain, and more! These spots are the same spots we would use if we were doing acupuncture on the ear, but we are using ear seeds instead so that you can wear them throughout the day.

How do I use them? Ear seeds are placed on your ear and can stay there for 3-5 days. Whenever you are ready to take them off, just remove them and place them in the trash. Rub the ear seeds 2-3 times a day or as needed. When rubbing them, the goal is to feel the seeds and for them to be slightly uncomfortable, but not painful. If you are near a mirror, you can look and see if the area becomes a bit red - that is the goal!

If your ear seeds hurt or become itchy, remove them. They shouldn’t be painful! Sometimes, if you sleep on your side or wear headphones, it can make the ear seeds on that side uncomfortable. It is fine to remove one side’s ear seeds but leave the other side in place, too. The ear seeds don’t break the surface of the skin, and they can safely be thrown into the garbage when you are finished with them.
